BUT we have an assortment of KIndle Fires (five of them; don’t ask),and they get left about the house and picked up for reading or browsing wherever one happens to be. But three of them cannot get on the wireless network; two can, and they’re not the same model. We do have two identical ones; one can connect, and the other one can’t. Nothing wrong with the Kindles–we travel a lot and they hook up to hotel Wi-Fi without problems. That means that we can no longer move books between the ones that do and the ones that don’t. We can’t sync the locations; we can’t buy a book on one Kindle and download it to another.. It’s a small thing–all the computers work fine and fast–but it’s a PITA.

Had to go back to edit my original 4 star review. This thing is a piece of junk. I’m on the latest firmware (which D-link doesn’t seem to update…ever). It drops the WiFi connection to my devices several times per week (often multiple times in the same day). Has forgotten the admin password twice now, even when I copy/paste it from a known-good source, requiring me to factory-reset the device (there is no "recover password" option), then spend a long time re-configuring the settings. Would not allow me to set a complex password. Avoid this hunk of junk and buy something better.

Edit to add: It turns out I’m *not* running the latest firmware. Even tho the device says "no firmware update available" when I check from the management page (back when I used to be able to log in). My device is on firmware 1.01 and 1.04 seems to be the current (there is also a 1.05 beta). I’ll update to 1.04 and edit my review should it fixes the myriad problems this thing has.

Pretty decent. Seems to drop the WiFi connection every now and then. I’ve had to reboot it a few times in the month or so I’ve had it, but not an annoying amount of times.

If you are a power-user, go with Trend-NET, NetGear, or ASUS… if you want just a basic router with good coverage, go with Belkin. You will be thankful that you avoided the hassles of DLINK wireless networking products.

This router is a good size and easy to use in almost any location. It sort of looks like the squatty third cousin to our Alexa. When we did have this unit connected it worked, but really struggled. Our usual router is a 2 channel set up and is just blazing fast. I knew this one wasn’t on the same level before I bought it, but it is still considerably slower than expected. We have a thermostat, Alexa, two or three tablets, two smart phones, two TiVo minis and the laptops drawing from the WiFi at various times – a lot of stuff for this router to cope with. I’ve since gone back to our original router fortunately, but I am keeping this one as an emergency back up.

I bought this router in December 2015, got it promptly, worked great. About 2 weeks ago, I kept having internet problems, cutting out, really high latency, etc. I immediately suspected my cable modem, and after several diagnostics with it, I realized it wasn’t the issue. I started pinging the router, using a wired connection. 4ms to 10ms latency, consistently. Ok, maybe it’s the PC, or cable. Pinged it from a PC wired ethernet to router, 3 foot cable. Same thing. Tried it on yet another PC, same thing. Consistently high ping. I factory reset the router, same thing. (I was running current firmware this entire time)

I called D-Link support. They walked me through everything I just described, despite me reassuring them I had done it all. 30 min later, they realized the router was bad. Said they’ll replace it. Ok, great. That’s what I like to hear. Then they tell me I’m responsible for shipping. Wait, what? Let me get this straight. I buy a D-Link product, it works for a mere 5 months, then I have to pay almost half the cost of the unit, to send it back to D-Link? No thanks. Incredibly disappointing, as I have had and liked other D-Link products, but this is insane. I’m going to end up buying a different router, probably Cisco or TP Link. Sorry D-Link, Your 5 month performance and customer pocket based warranty isn’t good. It’s been a fun ride.
